A Forbidden Corner in England

I love unusual places. Places that reflect the vividness of the imagination and excite the childlike wonder that remains in all of us, no matter how old we are. The Forbidden Corner in Coverham, The Yorkshire Dales is the perfect place for daring children and adults that enjoy folly, trickery and fun. Being situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales means that the attraction is surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire landscapes such as this one below.

Two close up rocks with a green field in the middle and a tree in the background.

If you live in England and have not been to The Dales, go! It reminds you how beautiful the North of England is, there is so much to see and do and it just revitalises you going somewhere close to home that is so picturesque. Lovely little towns like Leyburn and Bedale are very close to Forbidden Corner, are filled with quaint shops and homely pubs and surrounded by wonderful views.

I don’t want to spoil this attraction for you too much if you are thinking of going – the park encourages you to read clues and work things out so it is meant to be kept under wraps really, that’s why you don’t hear much about this attraction I think – it’s supposed to be mysterious! I will post a few photos but not say too much about it so as not to spoil it for you – hopefully that will tease your imagination and encourage you to visit!

Practical Information

You have to go on the Forbidden Corner website and book a slot for when you would like to visit and turn up on time where possible, this just helps them to regulate entries.

Forbidden Corner is situated in Coverham in the heart of Yorkshire, making it a little tricky to get to via public transport – if possible, driving is preferable. Saying that, I have used public transport myself and, though a little complicated, it is definitely possible. From wherever you are coming from, you generally need to change at Northallerton train station and you can get to Forbidden Corner then via the pretty little towns of Leyburn and Bedale. Once in Leyburn though, you really have to get a taxi onwards as there are no direct buses to the attraction.

There are lovely views along the way and the stops at Leyburn and Bedale are worth it – why not make a day of it?!
